West Field Skates Past Bonneville with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Field). They claimed a resounding 61-21 win over the Bonneville Lakers. With the Longhorns ahead 40-13 at the half, the game was all but over already.

West Field found their leader in sophomore Easton Eilertson, who threw for 408 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 12.0 yards per attempt, and also punched in one TD on the ground. Those 408 passing yards set a new season-high mark for Eilertson. Gavin Ortegon also helped out as he racked up 175 receiving yards.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something West Field proved: they limited Bonneville to a paltry 2.9 yards per carry. While six picked up at least one total tackle, Jaden Fowers stood above the rest. He picked up 121 receiving yards and three scores. The dominant display was nothing new: West Field has now limited their opponent to fewer and fewer yards per carry in three consecutive matches.

Bonneville lost on Friday despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ashton Spackman, who picked up 138 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Paden Toula, who threw for 248 yards and a pair of TDs.

West Field's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Bonneville, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

West Field wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 34-7 win against Clearfield on the 19th. As for Bonneville, they have also already played their next game, a 38-34 loss against Roy on the 19th.
